GREATLY TO BE PRAISED

Psalm 145:3

Psalm 145 eloquently speaks about God’s unsearchable greatness. Especially today how we need to be reminded of this fact, that our God is not like the other gods who are in truth and in reality “non-gods,” figments of the imagination and for all intents and purposes – powerless, absolutely powerless and therefore irrelevant. According to Scripture, our God is revealed and portrayed as omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient! He is infinite and awesome, majestic and magisterial.

As the Infinite – Personal Creator there is nothing, categorically nothing, that He cannot do and that is why we unconditionally trust Him, especially in these most unsettling and trying times. We trust Him now, and we trust Him then – whether Covid-19 continues its ugly march through the land or ceases tomorrow. We trust Him and refuse to become panicked or intimidated. It remains an infallible truth for us that “God is great, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable” (Psalm 145:3).

This is an undeniable truth for us. It cannot be escaped, it dare not be avoided. We will never cease preaching and believing that with this God – nothing shall be impossible. On account of His being so great, so exceptionally, remarkably great the psalmist unequivocally admonished that He should be praised proportionately. The great God deserves great praise! This should always be one of the distinctives of God’s people. We are called upon to “…praise Him according to His excellent greatness” (Psalm 150:2).

The Church of God is and must be, in spite of all the trials of our time – A Praising Church. If it’s one thing I know for sure, it is the devil would like nothing more than to silence our praise. Nothing disturbs the enemy more than when all the fiery darts of hell are thrown against us, and we, like Paul and Silas in prison even at midnight, decide to pray and sing praises unto God (Acts 16:25). What a recipe for revival – Pain, Prayer and Praise! Intense Pain – Intense Prayer – Intense Praise!

May the demons know that we are not backing down or backing up! We are yet taking it to another level! A great God, our great God must be greatly praised and this we are firmly determined to do – to praise Him more and more, refusing to be silenced or intimidated. We are not just passive saints, but authentic warriors of fierce courage. The truth is, so many of us were not supposed to be here in 2022 by the devil’s calculations, but it has to be admitted that God overruled and vetoed all the actions of hell against us. Therefore, how could we not greatly praise Him. Like the King Hezekiah, we declare “The living, the living shall praise you as I do this day ….”  (Isaiah 38:19).

It will never be that the Church of God becomes a place of praiseless silence. As the redeemed community of His love we wholeheartedly agreed with David as he proclaimed “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable” (145:3). With relentless determination, we perpetually bring sacrifices of praise into His house, persuaded more than ever to remain a part of that ceaseless circle of praise that St. John even speaks about in the Revelation. He is indeed greatly to be praised! So, glad to be numbered among the “Praising” church! We open our mouths and hearts and wholeheartedly praise Him.
